Social impact
The Pain in Europe survey5 found:
- Over a quarter of chronic pain sufferers felt that their care for themselves or others suffered (n=4,719).
- 21% have suffered chronic pain for 20 years or more (n=4,839).
- 27% said that their relationships with friends and family suffered (n=4,786).
- 30% were less able to maintain an independent lifestyle (n=4,780).
- 19% were no longer able to have sexual relations (n=3,708).
